I have created a questionnaire for the parents of the children to fill out. I am interested to find out if they take their children to see any type of theatre performance. I decided to create a yes/no questionnaire because I didn't think the adults would have much time to write out answers to my questions, I did leave space if some people wanted to write extra things.
At first, when I was going to go on the Tuesday, I was going to hand them out then, however the head teacher, Jaqi, wanted to write a letter to the parents and hand them out for them to take home. They were handed out on the Thursday the 17th October and on the Friday I received ten back. To be honest, I was very surprised at that amount, as I was told to not get my hopes up about getting many back. Then on Tuesday the 22nd, I received three more.
Results:
How often do you take your child/children to see a piece of theatre?
Do you feel that role play enriches your child/children's lives?
Do you know what 'Kids Week' is?
Do you think the government is right to cut the performing arts funding?
- All of the parents have children aged between 2 - 17.
These results show that most of the children don't see many live shows, so perhaps we could make a connection with the school and future Community Arts students can do performances and complete workshops with the children there. It's good to know that 100% of the participants agree that role-play enriches their children's lives and that they all agree that the government is wrong about cutting the performing arts funding.
